Optimistic

Good morning everyone!  It’s sunny here in this side of the globe!=)

I’m feeling optimistic about life and about my “diet”.  I’m on Stage 2 of the Sparkpeople’s diet program.   The steps seem do-able because I’ve done it before.  I just have to stick with them.

Choose something healthy over junk food.  Fruits instead of chips.  I can do this.  Because I want to.

I’m gonna be one busy girl.  But I can do this.

A highschool classmate recently passed away and the cause is heart failure.  Now more than ever, at this age, I should be more concerned with health.  This is the time of my life–this is our time.  I can do a lot for myself, my family, and for this country.  That’s why I have to take care of myself.

One step at a time=)

Cravings

I have a MAJOR fall.  I’ve been giving in to cravings for several days now.  Why is this?

Disappointed.  Because I got these conditions ever since I started cutting back on calories.  I feel like this is not healthy.  I’m supposed to be healthier, right?  Maybe, I am doing something wrong with the diet.  I’ll just have to rethink.

Ice cream is a great craving because I just can’t smell it.  Ice cream and oreo put together is just too great to resist.  What am I going to do?

I hope these cravings will go away.

Anyway, if there is one thing that I won’t forego, it’s ICED TEA.  I am a regular customer at the moviehouse snack area of the nearest mall (in my workplace) and I always buy their iced tea.  Spending time there (standing) and sipping the iced tea makes me feel at peace.  I feel hopeful.

Anyway, I can still turn my life around.  Good things are now going to happen.

Life is easy and comfortable and happy.=)

Dinner Sunday

I met up with highschool classmates because one of them is getting married this June.  After 2 hours, we decided to have dinner.  I ordered this at Reyes Barbecue–one piece barbecue.  Sinful but it’s okay.

Forgive Thy Self

If there is one thing I have learned this week, it’s to forgive myself. I have to forgive myself for choosing the wrong decision. There is a reason for everything and there is always the good side in ….

Lifestyle Change

That is going to be my very goal from now on. I need that to be healthy and fit. Thankfully, life is pointing me to sites, people, ideas that will help me with my goal.

Right now, I’m glad to find AllRecipes.com. It’s a great site because of the easy to do recipes with nutrition information (aka calories for every serving). I can’t wait to go home to try these recipes. My brother will be celebrating his birthday next week and I want to bake something for the occasion. I want to try the corn, banana bread and the chocolate chip scones.

Addicted

I’m addicted to whole wheat loaf of French Baker.  I could survive lunch and dinner with just this kind of bread.  For some, they don’t really like the taste of whole wheat bread, but for me, I got through the texture and enjoyed it.  I guess other bloggers are right when they say that they sometimes crave for the healthier food.

Speaking of cravings, yesterday, I craved for banana and I ate one.  Luckily, I was easily satisfied.=)  According to one site I’ve read (sorry I forgot the link…), it’s best to listen to our body.  Sometimes when we crave for something it means our body lacks that nutrient.  Truthfully, Spakpeople.com had the same analysis (nutrition tracker) that I went under my potassium goal (again), and banana is rich in potassium.

Good thing, I am now taking this food supplement which I will post here some time and I think it’s rich in potassium.

Anyway, tomorrow, I have to do rounds with all the patients.  I think I need the exercise.  Blessing this morning while going to work, I saw an officemate and she waited for me to enter the gate.  We were not sure if we were going to be late and so to be sure (since we don’t have any lates yet), we ran.  I realized how easy it was for me to run.  I guess, I could easily run (as a regular exercise) now.  We’ll see.

Also, I’m planning of joining my first marathon.  I want to try the 5k.  We’ll see.=)

Health Condition

Constipation has been a problem for me now.  It’s not enough to lose weight.  I should also think about my health.  As in every part of my body should be healthy.  Anyway, I should drink plenty of water.

It’s always best to consult your doctor/dietitian when you want to change your diet.

Next is Heat.  The heat of the sun and summer is too much that I worry about heat stroke whenever I go out in the middle of the day (at 12 noon).  It’s already May, and by now, it should be raining once in a while here but rain is seldom.  While the other parts of the world are dealing with typhoon and flood–we worry about the price of our electricity because of too much airconditioning unit use or electric fan use because it’s really humid and hot.

Water is really a friend to me now.  8 glass of water a day is so much attainable now.

Bananas

I ate a banana today hoping to get potassium from it.  But according to the analysis, I still lack the daily recommended potassium.  Good thing I’m taking a food supplement.  But I still lack in potassium.

I better check my MIMS for a better food supplement.  Right now I need a supplement on Iron, Calcium, and Potassium.

Starbucks

Kudos to Starbucks for including nutritional information of their menu.  I hope all of the fastfood and restaurants will include nutrition information of their menu.

I think it will be an advantage for a restaurant to put nutrition information  because a customer who’s into health stuff would rather choose this restaurant over the others because the customer knows what he’s eating.

Based on experience,  I often choose to eat at restaurants where I know the nutrition information of their menu.  Sometimes I would search the net first for the nutrition information of a food before eating or buying this food.  Having a readily available nutrition information would be convenient for the customers.
