One Day at a Time

How do I lose weight?  Finally it comes back to me…one day at a time.  One day to decide whether I’ll overeat or not.  Whether to eat healthy or not.  Whether I’ll exercise or not.  Whether I’ll be happy with my body or not.  It takes one day at a time.

Mediterranean

E and I finally tried some Mediterranean food at this newly opened corner in my favorite mall.  I finally know the taste of hummus.  It was okay I guess but I don’t like the olive oil.

I think I have to take this blog seriously–enough of this just-for-the-sake-of-updating-my-blog post and actually focus on healthy food and wellness.

Anyway, moving on.  I am lucky to have options on food at work.  Most of these choices are mostly affordable and healthy–of course.  But right now I am a bread person.  I crave the hot bread.  I can skip on rice nowadays because I prefer bread.  I am that crazy over bread.  It does not really matter what kind just as long as it is hot–fresh from the oven.

I’ll be posting photos of the food I eat starting tomorrow, so expect a post from me. Okay? 🙂

I finally admitted to E that I am really finding it hard to control my cravings.  For the  past two days, I’ve been wanting to give up and binge eat.  The cravings are getting stronger and stronger.  Good thing I’m still winning over my cravings.  I told E this afternoon on the way to dinner.  I asked him to encourage me to go on with this.

I would have given up yesterday, luckily, I held on or else I would feel bad especially after witnessing this BIG guy riding the jeepney and he didn’t know how to get in because he is big.  Then this lunch, I would have given up if I didn’t see these two overweight ladies waiting outside my workplace while munching.

I don’t want to give up.  I have to take a deep breath and think about healthy.

I really have to think of ways to go on with this diet…help! 🙂

Ma Mon Luk

I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant of the very first person who brought chicken noodles in the country–Ma Mon Luk. I saw from a local show here about this restaurant.  I was in the vicinity yesterday and so I decided to have some walk and went to this restaurant.  Sorry I have no picture to show because it was in this area where it’snot practical to bring any gadgets.

The service was not so good because I have to call the waiter several times at least about 7 times and in the end, the server (not the waiter) was the one who processed my order.  But once my order was taken, the server gave me my orders right away.  I ordered the special mami and regular asado siopao.

Work…work…work

Reason why I haven’t been online most of the time is because of work, school stuff, and reloading hassle.  Anyway, I cherish my free time and I choose to sleep on my free time because I need my strength and energy.

What do you think about intuitive eating?  I started reading about this and I am now trying somehow to eat intuitively.  Lately also, I’ve been craving fish.  Given a chicken or a fish on the table, I would most likely choose fish.  I find the most satisfaction when and after eating fish.  I’m thinking why and so I looked for the nutrients found in fish and I sure hope I don’t lack in these nutrients.

For the month of June, I’ve been having lots of “cheat days”.  I usually have 4 days of diet and 3 days off.  And I have maintained my weight that way.  But I just want to shed off this 10 lbs so I can finally have my goal weight.  So starting tomorrow I will go on a healthy diet without “breaks”.  I can always have some cravings whenever they strike but of course with the right proportion.    This time I really have to eat really healthy food to meet all of my needed daily nutrients.  There will be lots of fruits, veggies, white meat, fish, sweet potato and food supplement for calcium, potassium and magnesium.

That’s my opinion anyway…I’m not recommending it.  If you have comments or concerns then feel free to share it with me so I would know the right way of eating healthy. 🙂

By the tenth week,  I would be enjoying my more gorgeous body then…haha! 🙂

And oh btw, I had my workout this afternoon–jogging in place.  I was able to do it for 1.5 hours.  Maybe, I can run in a marathon with proper training.  I may not be a fast runner but maybe I can complete the race with endurance.  What do you think? 🙂

Tomato

Joanne and I had some lessons on rice.  We checked out the array of rice at the supermarket.  I saw some black rice and I remembered wanting to try it.  This weekend, I have to buy some.  She showed me the basmati rice.  It was indeed long-grained.  Maybe one day, after trying the black rice, I’d try the basmati next.

This morning, I also told her some technique in wearing a make-up.  She also loves make-up…well…she’s crazy over make-up.  I remember accompanying her to buy some expensive make-up.

We had lunch at this Italian place and I ordered pasta with tomato sauce.  I don’t really like sour food without a touch of saltiness or sweetness, but I have to mind what I eat and so I chose tomato sauce over alfredo sauce.  I was surprised I was able to finish the plate.

This evening while reading blogs I’ve read something about sardines and chicken.  SARDINES got stuck on my mind and the taste of that tomato sauce.  So tomorrow I’m planning on eating sardines and tomato.

I realized that I am beginning to love tomato.  Lycopene galore! 😉

Flavor of the Week

Last week, I ate chicken barbecue almost every lunch.

This week, I think I will eat canned tuna maybe almost every lunch.

Canned tuna is my lunch today.  I don’t have a can opener with me, good thing there is E to save my day!:)  It was nice of him to give me a glass of water, too while I read others’ blogs.  I truly appreciate that.

They say canned tuna or tuna is rich in omega-3 that is good for the heart.  I love my heart.<3

I’ m gonna attend my niece wedding tonight and I have some shopping to do;)

Dinner Sunday

I met up with highschool classmates because one of them is getting married this June.  After 2 hours, we decided to have dinner.  I ordered this at Reyes Barbecue–one piece barbecue.  Sinful but it’s okay.

Addicted

I’m addicted to whole wheat loaf of French Baker.  I could survive lunch and dinner with just this kind of bread.  For some, they don’t really like the taste of whole wheat bread, but for me, I got through the texture and enjoyed it.  I guess other bloggers are right when they say that they sometimes crave for the healthier food.

Speaking of cravings, yesterday, I craved for banana and I ate one.  Luckily, I was easily satisfied.=)  According to one site I’ve read (sorry I forgot the link…), it’s best to listen to our body.  Sometimes when we crave for something it means our body lacks that nutrient.  Truthfully, Spakpeople.com had the same analysis (nutrition tracker) that I went under my potassium goal (again), and banana is rich in potassium.

Good thing, I am now taking this food supplement which I will post here some time and I think it’s rich in potassium.

Anyway, tomorrow, I have to do rounds with all the patients.  I think I need the exercise.  Blessing this morning while going to work, I saw an officemate and she waited for me to enter the gate.  We were not sure if we were going to be late and so to be sure (since we don’t have any lates yet), we ran.  I realized how easy it was for me to run.  I guess, I could easily run (as a regular exercise) now.  We’ll see.

Also, I’m planning of joining my first marathon.  I want to try the 5k.  We’ll see.=)
